If you have been watching any webinars or promotional
videos by the 'gurus' on line recently there is one phrase you must
have heard from them multiple times, and that is:
TAKE ACTION!
That is of course good advice and easy to dish out but
the statistics demonstrate that not many people follow it. Actually
more than 90% don't take any effective action after buying a program.
Sounds ridiculous, yes? So let's take a look at this and find out
what is (or rather isn't) going on.
It probably won't surprise you to know that the cheaper
the program the fewer the action takers. This is understandable- they
have very little invested so when they hit a difficulty they get
frustrated and quit. Being cheap it's possible the program was
'almost' good and it didn't really work anyway. Yes, this happens.
OK, now let's take a scenario where the program wasn't
so cheap (say $395.00). The new Internet Marketer is all hot and
ready to make some real income on line. The first problem he is
likely to run into is the technology, especially if he has had no
formal education in computers. There IS a technology and it's fairly
new. Computers revolutionized the latter half of the 20th
century and everyone knows all about them, but “knowing about” is
not the same as fully understanding. A poor grasp of the technology
will trip you up every time. Are you ready to take a quiz on computer
definitions? If you want to be competent at anything you have to
understand it's technology. Take a night class, read a book, look up
some definitions – what ever you need to do. This will pay you well
in the end! (Remember the saying: “if you think education is
expensive, try ignorance!”) This step: being confused by the
technology, is by far the biggest reason why newbies quit. Another
common reason is to do with how the course is laid out. Internet
marketers love to tell you how their course is a no-brainer and is
all laid out in an easy to follow STEP-by-STEP gradient, but this is
often a false claim although not intended as such. You see these
marketers have been working with this technology for years and have -
we hope - got it down cold. It's all old hat to them but to the
newbie it is new and strange and unfamiliar terminology. Things that
are 'hardly worth mentioning' to the guru are vital (and missing)
information to the newbie, enough to make him give up.
In order to “take action” you need to understand
what you are being asked to do and why, and you also need to be
willing to part with the funds. Some of the actions you may be asked
to take are not free and if you can't (or are unwilling to) fund them
your progress is halted right there.
So what is the message here? You need to find a
successful marketer who is also a good teacher. Just because he has
made millions of real income on line is no guarantee that he can
teach you to do the same. Internet marketing and education are not
the same thing. You want to find a mentor who is highly successful
but do you really care how many millions he has made and how many
fancy cars he has bought if he is a lousy teacher?
Avoid the boasting/bragging kind who put too much
attention on the trophies of success. Unfortunately there are no
statistics available to compare the STUDENT successes of one guru
compared to another but I know most of them have a high failure rate.
Pay heed to the points above and you will avoid being one of the
casualties. It's really not that hard at all, but you do need to have
a professional viewpoint to succeed and any guru who suggests
otherwise should be avoided, I don't care how many millions they are
claiming to rake in!
